**Location:** Ebenezer Baptist Church, Portsmouth, VA

**About Us:**

Ebenezer Baptist Church is a well-established historical African-American congregation with over 159 years of history. Our large edifice includes a large and small sanctuary, two levels of classroom and office space, a fellowship hall, five bathrooms, and three foyers.

**Position:** Full-Time Custodian

**Responsibilities:**

- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of all areas within the church, including sanctuaries, classrooms, offices, fellowship hall, bathrooms, and foyers.

- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as minor repairs, painting, and ensuring all fixtures and facilities are in good working condition.

- Set up and break down furniture and equipment for events and meetings.

- Monitor and maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment.

- Ensure trash and recycling are properly managed and disposed of.

- Respond promptly to urgent cleaning and maintenance needs.

- Collaborate with church staff to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all congregants and visitors.

- Perform other related duties as assigned by the church administration.

**Qualifications:**

- High school diploma or equivalent.

- Minimum of two years of custodial and maintenance experience.

- Knowledge of cleaning products, equipment, and best practices.

- Ability to perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks.

- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Good communication and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to lift and move heavy objects as required.
